Barca Barca!

I can't believe it is already February! This coming Friday marks one month for me in Barcelona. I'm working my way through the Barcelona section of the guidebook Robyn got me and I must say, I am doing a pretty good job. I am glad I spent the first four weeks in Barcelona so I could get to the point of feeling comfortable in my area. It also helps that my host mom's granddaughter comes to dinner sometimes and talks to us about local stuff and gives us the perspective life as a college student in Barcelona (which is much different than college life in the States).

After hiking Tibidabo, we had an easy day on Saturday. We found a brunch place that served semi-American style brunch. I had their version of a bagel with turkey, scrambled eggs, guac, and tomato. It was delicious. This place is also known for their desserts so we had to try them out! We shared one of the most delicious cheesecakes I've ever had and carrot cake.

Saturday night, my friend Jackie and I checked out a bar off of Las Ramblas. On our way to the first, London Bar, we realized we passed an Irish bar so we decided it would be funny to bar hop around the world. So we went to both of those but then we didn't know where any more country-themed bars were in the area so we called it quits but had a fun night never the less.

Sunday night I went to my first Barca game! It was very exciting. They played Villarreal and won 3-2. Our seats were very close to the pitch, right behind a goal, and right next to the equivalent of a student section. All the rowdy, screaming, singing fans were next to us and it was very entertaining. I now know that I think I would prefer to be a few sections up on the side of the field to see all the action instead of being really close to only seeing half of the field action. Anyways, I got to see Neymar score a goal right in front of me and Messi score on the other side (still awesome). It was freezing but worth it.
